Two Hearts
So much trouble all around this crazy world
It's enough child to make you wanna cry
So I'm giving this advice to any boy or girl
Who's out there trying hard just to get by
Find yourself someone who will go with you
When the going gets rough
Someone who'll see you through, when everything you do
Somehow, is just not enough
Two true hearts can meet, on any kinda street
It happens every day
When the world has got you thrown, it's so much harder on your own
That is why I say
Two hearts are stronger, so much stronger
Two hearts can finish what one's begun
In any season, it stands to reason
Two hearts are stronger than one
Well your world gets blown apart, When somebody breaks your heart
And leaves you at the scene of the crime
Remember what you mama said to you, any love that's true
Has got to stand the test of time
Find a friend that's true, to tell your troubles to
You'll feel better by and by
One and one can become, greater than their sum
That's the reason why
Two hearts are stronger, a whole lot stronger
When your world has come undone
Another heart can find you, and remind you
That your life has just begun
When you're under an attack, you need someone who's got your back
And will come to your defense
One can have the will, but two are better still
That's only common sense
Two hearts are stronger, so much stronger
When your troubles weigh a ton
When things are dire, they'll lift you higher
Two hearts are stronger than one
Two hearts are stronger, yes they're stronger
When you wanna turn and run
If you're hurtin, I know for certain
Two hearts are stronger than one
Two hearts are stronger, a whole lot stronger
Two hearts can get the job done
When your hopes are sinking, they'll change your thinking
Two hearts are stronger than one
The Boston Rain
As the rain fell, we kissed and I could tell
That I would never be the same
Out in the hue and cry, those dreams of you and I, watched them wash on by
In the Boston rain
Down Comm Avenue, the wind came whistling through, sounded just as blue
As a midnight train
Had the letter that you wrote, tucked inside my coat, and a lump in my throat
In the Boston rain
I was hesitating
My back against the wall
You had a world waiting
At your beck and call
On any given night, I'm still looking for the light
As I gaze out my window pane
So far down the track, some times I'm wishing that, I was back
In the Boston rain
Cruise Control
Either there was nothing or everything always was
Either there was nothing or everything always was
Don't care what Einstein said or done
Can't comprehend either one
So I'll have another sip just because
Either there was nothing or everything always was
Put your hands on your hips and let your mind roll away
Put your hands on your hips and let your mind roll away
Down to the sweet and low
There's something there you oughta know
You'll be glad you went on your last day
Put your hands on your hips and let your mind roll away
Roll down the windows and set it to cruise control
Roll down the windows and set it to cruise control
We're goin up around the bend
Chasing the summer wind
Wherever that summer wind may blow
Roll down the windows and set it to cruise control
Who's That Knocking
We said nothing in the night, or the fading light
Would shake the faith we knew
But your world can fall apart, when what breaks your heart
Comes out of the blue
What you thought you had, can all go bad
In the time it takes an eye to blink
There's a distant drum, and though the night's not come
It's later than you think
Say what you will, there's a chill
In the air you can't deny
And a feeling old, that's taken hold
Out there in the hue and cry
The sun hangs low, the angels know
This has happened before
Through the breech, the tires screech
Who's that knocking at my door
Who's that knocking, who's that knocking
Who's that knocking at my door
Don't be knocking, don't be knocking
I wanna sleep some more
The water's wide, the price of pride
Is more than you can afford
I'd like to know, before I go
Who's that knocking at my door
Who's that knocking, who's that knocking
Who's that knocking at my door
Don't be knocking, don't be knocking
I wanna sleep some more
Carry that weight, past the hate
Protect the ones you adore
There's no time to spare, are you aware
Who's that knocking at your door
She Loves Me Not
Another night alone has passed me by
I think about it and I cry
Dream about the love I've missed
I'm not cut out for this
First she loves me, then she snubs me
And I don't know what I've got
She treats me badly, then she loves me madly
Then she loves me not
Don't know why but it never fails
Can't make heads or tails
Picking petals from a daisy
And goin crazy
She says she loves me, puts no one above me
And just like that I'm caught
She says she never knew me, then she loves me truly
Then she loves me not
Say you gotta be strong to be free
Don't repeat that just because
It's good advice but not for me
When it comes to love I never was
I can take some uncertainty
But some days are too slow to get past
Just when I think I've found the key
The next one's moving way to fast
Spend my time arranging
Dates that she keeps changing
Should I bet or should I fold
Can't see the cards I hold
She says she wants me, then she haunts me
As I go from thought to thought
She says she needs me, she wants to please me
Then she loves me not
Angeliou
Sittin in the twilight blue, thinkin it's true
Just what they say
The twilight is, the loneliest
Time of the day
When the sun goes down, I get turned around
Start losing power
I don't last, can't get past
The midnight hour
And I can't write this book
When every thought is of you
Wondering what it might have took
To save the love we knew
Angeliou, the whole night though
My world keeps turning
In the rain, to the flame
That keeps burning
Just because the night is near, I can feel a tear
Gettin ready to fall
The love I wanted, left me haunted
Like a shadow on the wall
In the still of the night
I'm a fool waiting for my day
When the morning light
Feels like a million years away
Angeliou, if you only knew
Just what I'm facing
Behind closed doors, are the floors
I keep pacing
Every night I dream you left me not
A dream I know won't come true
But it's the only one I got
The only one that gets me through
Oh Angeliou, what's a boy to do
I need more information
In the shade, I'm afraid
Of my imagination
Angeliou, out of the blue
Your voice keeps calling
Through the years and the tears
That keep falling
That's The Story
We drove down through the valley, set up on the rise
Got film of the barrel bombs, raining from the skies
Heard the townspeople calling out to the angels by name
They prayed through the night, no angels came
Our producer said it's goin down to the wire
Regime is flying in chariots of fire
Crossed over to the other zone to get a soundbite from that side
Commander said if they weren't guilty they wouldn't try to hide
Saw a young soldier with field glasses looking at the enemy
Heard him turn and say they look just like me
He wiped away a bead of sweat, it might have been a tear
That's the story from here
This just in, press secretary has spoken
She said you never heard us say any vow we made was broken
They're putting out a statement, and we're standing by
For the difference between a law and a lie
Back here everybody knows the end is close at hand
Some truths will always be written in the sand
Worn away by the wind until they disappear
That's the story from here
That's a wrap for us if everything's gone through
One last thing before I toss it back to you
We've got a lead on something breaking, we're packing up our gear
That's the story from here
Made Up Mind
I just got tired of waiting for my day
And I no longer believe a word you say
No way to stop me, no reason you'll find
I've already made up my mind
Time won't wait, doesn't care where you're at
Anyone of us can go just like that
And it's not always love that makes the ties that bind
I've already made up my mind
I've got a made up mind to break this chain
I know love and I know need and they're not the same
Goin out to see what I can find
With a little faith and a made up mind
Spend your whole life tryin to scale that wall
They say in the end everyone must fall
But I can't see me staying, I'd rather go blind
I've already made up my mind
I've got a made up mind to be free
Of wanting something that can never be
Going out to see what I can find
With a little faith and a made up mind
The Longest Night Of The Year
Hard to find this heart of mine
Winter sun going down
Gonna look one last time
In the lost and found
She's gone and she left no doubt
That much now is clear
Just wish I hadn't found out
On the longest night of the year
My heart is broke in two and yet
Don't know why I had to fall quite so far
My best friend said what did you expect
When you hitched your dreams to a shooting star
Ever since I got the news
Been walkin round and round all day
Tryin to lose the blues
Couldn't even get outta my own way
They say this too will pass
A new day will soon be here
Just don't tell me that
On the longest night of the year
Every Time You Go
Well I'm standing in the rain, watching your train, pull from the station
I turn to face what I most fear
To have another night go by, alone with only my imagination
After you've gone and left me here
Every time you go
Well it's hurtin me so
More and more as time goes by
Every time you leave
Got my heart on my sleeve
Wiping away the tears I can't help but cry
I can still see you there, with the wind in your hair, buttoned up in your coat
In the cold November air
At the end of the day, with too much to say, with a lump in
my throat
As we walked down to Union Square
Every time you go
Well it's layin me low
As I walk back in the fading light
Every time you leave
You don't see the tears I grieve
Tears that keep falling long through the night
Just like a prisoner in a tower
Like a sailor stranded praying for wind
I'm trying to get through the empty hours
Till I can see you again
Well I'm lying awake as the wind shakes and rattles the
panes
And the night is black as coal
With half of me, longing to be, free of these chains
And half of me outta control
